YEREVAN. – Russia’s PM Vladimir Putin is more informed on Nagorno-Karabakh issue than incumbent President Dmitri Medvedev, expert Stepan Grigoryan said at a press conference on Monday.

According to him, Russian incumbent PM and presidential candidate Putin’s position on the Karabakh issue may be characterized as stance whish supposes not to allow war but not to speak of soon conflict settlement as well.

As for the meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents initiated by Medvedev, the expert believes they were positive, however, Medvedev is not well-informed on the conflict.

Putin, in this regard, will have more positive influence on Armenia. As to Russia’s role in the peace process, Grigoryan believes the meetings will continue.  

As for the possible recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence, the expert said that the states first of all pay attention to the fact that Armenia has not done it either. Meanwhile, certain work is done abroad for its recognition. Nagorno-Karabakh is indeed independent de facto, and attempts to settle the conflict peacefully have not been exhausted yet.
