The member of the European Parliament Brice Hortefeux says Constitutional Council’s decision on genocide bill is not a blow for Nicolas Sarkozy.
“Let’s not use big words,” he said commenting on a remark whether the decision was an insult for Sarkozy, «Nouvelles d`Arménie» reports referring to AFP.
According to Hortefeux, the President stated he would have an occasion to meet with the representatives of the Armenian community in the near future. He also instructed the government to prepare a text taking into account the provisions which led to decision of the Constitutional Council.
“Constitutional Council consists of thinkers who had expressed their wisdom,” he added.
The Constitutional Council of France recognized the bill criminalizing the genocide denials, including the Armenian Genocide, non-constitutional on Tuesday.
