YEREVAN.- Armenian meteorologists will stop sending any data to Armavia company unless it pays off all the debts, head of aviation weather center told reporters on Tuesday.

Pavel Manukyan, acting head of the center, said his company accumulated debts to tax authorities because of Armavia.

“Armavia set a record. Armenian national carrier’s debt increased from AMD 48 million last year to 93.4 million. The company refuses to contact us. We have commitments to other companies and are unable to meet them because of Armavia’s debts,” said Manukyan.

The company has already received a notice from the tax authorities saying sanctions will be imposed unless aviation weather center pays off the debt as quickly as possible.

Manukyan said the center turned a blind eye to the debts of air carrier in the interests of the passengers. Meanwhile, the center’s services are one of the cheapest in the post-Soviet area.

One hundred percent shareholder of Aviation Weather Center CJSC is Armenia’s Ministry of Nature Protection.
