YEREVAN.- Armenian presidential candidate, leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian was met in Ashtarak by people chanting “president” and “Armenia” (photos).

Hovannisian, who did not recognize results of the February 18 presidential elections, decided to tour the regions to hold meetings with citizens.

Addressing demonstrators, candidate congratulated everyone on the victory in presidential elections, stressing that it belongs to the people.

“You are the might. You proved that you are ready to struggle for the sake of victory,” he said.

Raffi Hovannisian assured Ashatarak residents that all the steps, regardless of authorities’ decision on transferring the power, will be in line with the law.

“No illegal actions, which may lead to bloodshed, will be taken,” he said. “If any high ranking official gives a command to soldiers to use force against people, he will be held accountable before the law.”

After the rally he left for the city of Vanadzor.
