The UN General Assembly approved resolution on Syria condemning the ongoing violence and calling for involved parties to immediately end the hostilities on all sides, and work together for an inclusive Syrian-led political transition to a democratic, pluralistic political system.

The text was adopted by a recorded vote of 107 in favour to 12 against, with 59 abstentions. Armenia was among the countries which abstained from voting.

Addressing the General Assembly, representative of Syria said that the content of the resolution contradicted the agenda item “Prevention of armed conflict”.
