The French police are looking for the second suspect in the killing of Michael Assaturyan, 16, in Marseille, the city prosecutor Brice Robin said at a press conference.

In his words, the fugitive second suspect is 18 years old.

“The detained suspect, who surrendered himself to the law enforcement agencies, is 17 years old. He has been known to the police, and in 2013, he was sentenced to four months in prison for robbery and violence.

“The police also detained the girl by whose fault the incident occurred,” Robin stated.

The Marseille prosecutor also noted that the perpetrators had stabbed Assaturyan four times, and one of the stabbings had struck a parent artery.

French-Armenian high school student Michael Assaturyan was killed on Monday. The incident occurred after classes, and nearby the entrance of the school he attended in Marseille. Assaturyan was stabbed by the brothers of a girl with whom he had earlier argued. Assaturyan was a citizen of France, whereas his parents are Armenia nationals.
