President Donald Trump made comments during a meeting on immigration with lawmakers on Thursday, asking why the US admits people from “shithole countries” or “shitholes,” according to an eyewitness and two people familiar with the meeting, reported Politico.
A group of senators visited the White House to offer to the US President a compromise agreement which relates to Haiti, El Salvador, and the African countries.
Then, Trump asked why the United States wants “all these people from shithole countries?”
“We need more people from Norway,” he said, according to the people familiar with the meeting. Trump on Wednesday met with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
The White House did not deny that Trump made the remarks.
“Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people,” White House spokesperson Raj Shah said in a statement.
