YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia today approved in the second reading, and with a vote of 94 for and 18 against, the package of bills on making amendments and addenda to law on local referendum and related laws.

These bills refer to the launch of a local referendum by the inhabitants of the communities, in the case of a government legislative initiative on the unification or separation of the respective communities.

The bills also note that the results of this local referendum are of an advisory nature.

But the opposition Bright Armenia faction MPs opposed this legislative package, considering it poorly designed.

At the end of the sitting, Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan said that the third session of the NA of the 7th convocation officially ended its work.
