YEREVAN. – Whatever the format of the meeting, we are ready for that meeting. Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the opposition Bright Armenia Party and head of its parliamentary faction, told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am, referring to the statement of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement—which demands the resignation of PM Nikol Pashinyan—on President Armen Sarkissian’s invitation to meet.

"We [Bright Armenia] are ready for any discussion without preconditions in order to get the country out of this situation," Marukyan said.

Asked whether the process will enter a deadlock due to the Homeland Salvation Movement’s statement that there should be a resignation of the PM first, then an interim government should be formed, and then snap parliamentary elections should be held, Marukyan responded: "I can't say whether it will lead to a deadlock or not. I repeat, I am ready to participate in any discussion to get out of this situation. If there will be a meeting, we will go, we will see who says what. [If] there will not be [a meeting], then we will look for other opportunities. It is normal, every force has its own agenda. "

President Armen Sarkissian has invited the Prime Minister, the heads of the parliamentary factions, and the leaders of the Homeland Salvation Movement to a meeting Saturday at the presidential residence to discuss the situation in Armenia and find mutually acceptable solutions to overcome the current crisis in the country.

The majority My Step and the opposition Bright Armenia factions in parliament have accepted the invitation. The parliamentary opposition Prosperous Armenia Party and the government, however, have not yet expressed their position. And the Homeland Salvation Movement has announced that they will accept the invitation to that meeting only if they are guided by the aforesaid agenda proposed by them.
