TBILISI.- Georgia has not recognized local elections in Nagorno-Karabakh, says the statement issued by country’s foreign office.

“The Georgian Foreign Ministry reiterates its unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within internationally recognized borders, and does not recognize the illegal elections of so-called ‘local self-government bodies’ in Nagorno-Karabakh on 18 September 2011,” the statement reads.

In its statement the Foreign Ministry welcomed the international community’s efforts towards ensuring a peaceful settlement of the conflict, stressing there is no alternative to dialogue.

Local elections were held in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 18.
