YEREVAN. – A scandal is brewing in recent days in Armenian-Georgian relations, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes. “Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili did not congratulate [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, in the case when such congratulations were made even by Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul.
And gas supply from Georgia to Armenia was suspended yesterday [Friday], and, against the backdrop of the abovementioned, the official explanations—that the shutdown is for technical reasons—play second fiddle.
According to the newspaper’s information, for a long time Georgia also is not allowing the transfer of weapons and ammunition from Russia to Armenia,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
