On the sidelines of the high-level events in Geneva dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan met with Ilze Brands Kehris, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights.

Kostanyan briefed his interlocutor on Armenia's commitments to human rights, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Addressing the needs and rights of 100,000 Armenians forcibly displaced to Armenia as a result of the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan was discussed at the meeting.

Also, the Armenian deputy FM stressed the importance of the betterment of early warning mechanisms in the context of genocide prevention and effective response by the international community.

During the meeting, views were exchanged also on the current situation around the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem.
