The US government intends to announce its position on the belonging of the West Bank within the next four weeks. US President Donald Trump said this at a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after their talks at the White House on Tuesday.

“We’re discussing that with many of your [Israeli] representatives. You’re represented very well… [but] we haven’t been taking the position on it yet,” Trump said, answering a question about whether Washington will recognize Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.

The US president added that he will likely be “making an announcement” on the matter at some point in the next four weeks.
