Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has showed great courage by agreeing to the peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, founding president of Rasmussen Global international political consultancy organization and former NATO Secretary General, told this to a press conference in Armenia’s Ijevan city Thursday, and added that his team is helping Armenia diversify its international relations.

Also, Rasmussen announced a meeting with Pashinyan, assuring that he wants peace in the South Caucasus.

Now the ball is in Azerbaijan’s court, Rasmussen noted, and added that he wants Azerbaijan to sign this peace agreement as soon as possible,.

Furthermore, the NATO former Secretary General expressed strong support for the Crossroads of Peace initiative by Pashinyan.

If implemented, it will promote multilateral cooperation throughout the Caucasus, Rasmussen said. He noted that he wants the EU to support the implementation of projects within the framework of this initiative, as the establishment of Armenia’s ties between both Azerbaijan and Turkey will contribute to the prosperity of the region.

Rasmussen added that he wants to strengthen ties between Armenia and Europe, too. Armenia is a democratic country that is developing while being surrounded by difficult neighbors, and therefore he wants the EU to increase its support for the growth of democracy in Armenia, added the NATO ex-Secretary General.
