YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) was the venue on Tuesday where awards were formally presented to two citizens who had rescued numerous people and vehicles from a snowstorm back in February.
Minister Armen Yeritsyan presented the MES Certificate of Honor to Aghabek Hakobyan and Karapet Melkonyan for their effective assistance to the rescue activities and their humanitarian act in helping people who were in a difficult situation, MES informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
To note, there was an emergency situation at the Yerevan-Sevan Highway, on February 10, where dozens of vehicles were stranded in a blizzard. The aforementioned citizens, using their Hummers, voluntarily and successfully assisted the rescue activities being carried out at the scene. As a result, casualties and injuries were avoided, and 35 automobiles were rescued from the snowstorm.
