YEREVAN.- Raising the question of former FM and Prosperous Armenia MP Vartan Oskanian in the PACE is not the best option, head of the Armenian delegation Davit Harutunyan said.

His comments came after Prosperous Armenia MPs Vahe Hovhannisyan and Naira Zohrabyan expressed readiness to give up their seats in the PACE for Vartan Oskanian who was charged with money laundering.

“Any political force has the right to do so but I think it is not the best option. An open debate must be held and everyone should draw conclusions,” Harutunyan said.    

He refused to give assessment to Oskanian’s case reasoning by his absence from the parliament debate.

The National Security Service (NSS) Department of Investigation has brought formal charges Monday against Vartan Oskanian.

On October 2 the National Assembly voted—by 64 ballots for, six against, and with one invalid vote—in favor of Prosecutor General’s petition to include Vartan Oskanian as a defendant in a criminal lawsuit.

On May 25 NSS Department of Investigation had filed a criminal lawsuit on charges of money laundering with respect to The Civilitas Foundation.
