YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan on Tuesday received group representatives from Austria’s domains of education, science, and culture.

The Minister expressed a hope that the Austrian intellectuals’ visit to Armenia will give new impulse to Armenian-Austrian ties. “Thanks to each and every one of you, for your efforts to make our country become more cognizable in Austria, to support the armenological studies, and to keep a special focus on the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic,” Ashotyan told the guests, the Education and Science Ministry press service informs.        

Thanking for the reception, Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture’s former official Alois Söhn noted that the objective of their visit is to get more thoroughly acquainted with Armenia’s history and culture. In her turn, Elisabeth Gehrer, Austria’s former Federal Minister of Education, Science and Culture, underscored the need to expand Armenian-Austrian ties in education, science, and research.

At the end of the meeting, Armen Ashotyan awarded Gehrer and Söhn with the Armenian Education and Science Ministry’s highest honor, the Gold Commemorative Medal, for their contribution to science and their pro-Armenian activities.
