YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday received Italian defense minister, Admiral Giampaolo di Paola, MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Nalbandian expressed a satisfaction by the relations that are developing between Armenia and Italy, ever since the establishment of diplomatic ties between both countries twenty years ago, and stressed that the Armenian President’s official visit paid to Italy last year has given new impetus to cooperation. In his turn, Admiral di Paola noted that he is very glad to visit Armenia and that he highly appreciates Armenia’s engagement in international security and peacekeeping.

The parties expressed a satisfaction by the signing of the bilateral agreement on cooperation in the defense sector. Also, Armenia’s FM and Italy’s defense minister reflected on the Armenia-EU interaction and exchanged views on regional security matters.   

In addition, Edward Nalbandian thoroughly presented the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict’s settlement process. In this connection, Giampaolo di Paola stressed that, being an OSCE Minsk Group member, Italy supports the Group Co-Chairs’ efforts to peacefully resolve this conflict.
