YEREVAN. – Armenia’s electricity production constituted 5.9 billion kWh in the first nine months of 2012, against the 5.5 billion kWh in the same time period last year; and the growth is 8 percent, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan stated during Thursday’s Cabinet session.    

Also, Movsisyan informed that 4 billion kWh of electricity was consumed in the first nine months of the year past, but this has jumped to 4.4 billion kWh for the same time period this year.

The volume of electricity export has remained virtually unchanged for the nine months, and it is close to 1.3 billion.    

As per the minister, an annual growth in electricity production and export is expected. 

In addition, the volume of natural gas import has sharply increased as well.
