YEREVAN. – In an interview with 168 Zham daily, political opposition member Davit Shahnazaryan said the Eurasian Union is a project that does not contain a development prospect for Armenia, the daily reports.

‘“Armenia’s direction ought to be toward European values, and this does not at all mean we need to follow European values. First and foremost, we need to establish them here [in Armenia]. Our society, the country, have no other way but the establishment and strengthening of democracy, European values. We, simply, are doomed to this,’ he said.

To the question as to whether membership in the Eurasian Union will get in the way of Armenia’s integration with the EU, Davit Shahnazaryan responded that these [two] structures contradict one another,” 168 Zham writes.
