YEREVAN. – Being at the liberal front of Armenia’s political spectrum, the opposition Free Democrats Party will discuss the matter of nominating a woman as candidate for next year’s presidential elections, Party Vice Chairwoman Anush Sedrakyan said during a press conference on Monday.    

To note, the Free Democrats are still examining the likelihood of Sedrakyan’s nomination as presidential candidate. 

In his turn, ruling Republican Party MP Artak Davtyan stated that he has a positive view with respect to the possibility of having a female presidential candidate.  

Anush Sedrakyan noted that she is concerned that the challenges that Armenia faces are left out of the pre-election season. “I would like for us to leave the persons behind, in this race of candidates, and to present our political programs,” she said.     

Artak Davtyan agreed that the opposition needs to introduce programs and offer proposals as to the avenues whereby these problems will be resolved.
