STEPANAKERT. – Within the framework of their visit to the region, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will be in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), too, the NKR President’s Press Secretary Davit Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Such meetings have become habitual, and I do not think the format will change this time. The day [of the visit] will become clear in the next several days. The agenda [of the visit] is general because, after Azerbaijan’s making a hero out of [Ramil] Safarov [the Azerbaijani army officer who had killed with an axe Armenian soldier Gurgen Margaryan in Budapest back in 2004 and who was released in Azerbaijan], the discussion of any concrete proposal is not logical for us in any way. Consequently, there probably will be general discussions,” Babayan said.

He added that measures are needed to maintain the [negotiation] process and to not allow it to meet an impasse once and for all. “But Azerbaijan’s steps lead solely to this. Consequently, I believe the discussions will primarily be on these matters. We will do everything that is in our interest and what is necessary for the preservation of stability, [and] peace. But everyone must itself preserve the stable process with its own measures,” the NKR President’s Press Secretary stated.
