YEREVAN. – Eight child trafficking cases are exposed and eleven victims are discovered in Armenia ever since 2008, “People in Need” NGO’s Trafficking and Migration Project Manager Tatevik Bezhanyan said during a press conference on Tuesday. 

In her words, there is a court ruling on four of these cases, whereas the other four are at the intermediate phase. 

“Six of the victims were girls and five were boys. The boys were primarily used for begging, whereas four of the girls were subjected to sexual exploitation, one [was used for] labor, [and] the other, [for] begging. Two of the aforesaid cases were recorded abroad while the rest, in Armenia. All of the victimized children had parents, but the majority of them were the children of special institutions. The girls were above fifteen years of age, whereas the boys were above twelve years of age,” Tatevik Bezhanyan informed.
