YEREVAN. – There are numerous methods for protecting former trafficking victims from their traffickers, and this even includes plastic facial operations, “People in Need” NGO’s Trafficking and Migration Project Manager Tatevik Bezhanyan stated during a press conference on Tuesday.   

In her words, the victims are well informed about trafficking, and therefore their lives are in danger even when they escape from its claws. Bezhanyan recalled that during the trial of a child in Armenia who had become a trafficking victim, the latter was stabbed.  

“We have a criminal case, in which the victim had become the trafficker and transferred women from here to the [United Arab] Emirates for sexual exploitation,” Bezhanyan said.  

In her turn, psychologist Mariam Mehrabyan added that if a child is labeled, he or she could become a trafficking victim one day. “There are people among very successful people who have had a very bad childhood yet they were able to surmount that complex,” Mehrabyan added.
