make preferableYEREVAN. – The Armenian National Assembly’s (NA) special session on Wednesday was not held, since quorum was not obtained at the parliament.
Following the registration of the MPs, it became apparent that solely 44 of the 48 deputies, who had signed under the petition to convene the special session, were present at the NA Sessions’ Hall, Armenian News-NEWS.am’s parliamentary reporter informs.
Pursuant to the NA Rules of Procedure, the deputies’ registration will continue for three more hours—that is, until 3pm—since the start of the session, in order to obtain quorum. If half of the total number of MPs is not present at the hall by that time, the session will be called off once and for all.
At present, the deputies from the ruling coalition’s Republican Party and Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) parties are not at the NA Sessions’ Hall.
To note, the objective of this special session is to discuss the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress’ bill that envisions amendments in the Electoral Code, the Criminal Code, and the Law on State Residency Registry.
