YEREVAN.- Armenia’s national carrier Armavia air company is on sale, spokesperson for the company told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The talks, including those with the Italians, are being held,” Nana Avetisova assured. “Armavia expects offers from 2-3 companies. There are many companies willing to buy Armavia. Armavia considers it important to have a reliable partner for Armenia.”

In its Thursday article Zhamanak daily cast doubt on company’s plans.

“At the same time Armavia has stopped continually repeating that the company is being sold. The Zvartnots-Armavia conflict could have been the reason why an Italian ‘interest’ in the Armenian airline company reduced, or faded away. But it would have been lucrative for the company’s proprietor Mikhail Baghdasarov to sell Armavia, especially considering the fact that the airline’s license to conduct flights expires next year, and Armavia has no other valuable thing except for that license, ” Zhamanak writes.
