Moscow welcomes the ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, calling for restrain, official representative of the Russian MFA Alexander Lukashevich told briefing on Thursday.

Russia also calls for immediate meeting of foreign ministers of quartet of international Middle East mediators to discuss situation in Gaza, RIA Novosti reported.

The agreement on ceasefire came into effect on Wednesday.

Earlier the possibility of convening a meeting was discussed by Russian FM Sergey Lavrov and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton but the sides agreed to call for a ministerial meeting after the Gaza crisis is settled.
