YEREVAN. – The ten-month economic activity index in Armenia is 7.2 percent, and this surpasses the forecast that was placed at the basis of the state budget, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Under the conditions of a global economic recession, there are few countries in the world that have a 7.2 percent economic activity index and a 10 percent industrial growth,” Davtyan said.

And with respect to this October’s 16.5-percent drop in economic activity, as compared with September, the minister stated that this is normal for small countries like Armenia. According to him, the seasonal factors, the time logs in connection with large transactions, etc., play a role in such fluctuations.

Also, Tigran Davtyan assured that Armenia’s economy is at the “sustained high growth” phase.
