YEREVAN.- Next year Armenia’s Ministry of Agriculture will provide financial support to exporters of fruits and vegetables, Deputy Minister Robert Makaryan told reporters asked about problems with the lack of working capital some companies are faced with.

For instance, Armenia’s largest exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables Spayka company was faced with the problem of lack of working capital before the purchasing season started in June.

Several canneries and winemakers failed to implement previously agreed volume of production.

Makaryan assured the Ministry is developing measures to tackle the problem. Funds for this program will be allocated from the state budget. The Ministry is currently working on a strategy for processing of fruits and vegetables in Armenia, official added.

The activities must be completed in February 2013. Then, farmers and processing companies will get support and necessary consultations.
