The owner of Armenian national carrier Armavia Mikhail Baghdasarov said he plans to sell his company and the deal will be signed in 2-3 weeks.

In an interview with Russia’s РБК daily, Baghdasarov said the talks with potential buyers are underway.

Speaking about the reasons, Baghdasarov named global crisis and losses his company suffered from operation of Russia-produced Superjet.

“There are no Russian investors among the main contenders, only Italians and companies from the East,” company’s owner said.

A source close to the aircraft supplier, told Armavia leases Superjet. He noted that all the major debt obligations of the carrier will be transferred to the new owner, stressing the reason for probelms is the company has poor management.

Earlier this week spokesperson for the company Nana Avetisova confirmed for Armenian News-NEWS.am that Armavia is for sale.
