YEREVAN. – Armenia’s First President and opposition bloc Armenian National Congress leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan will probably run for president in next February’s elections, political scientist Levon Shirinyan stated during a press conference on Saturday.  

In his words, institutional reforms and the human qualities of the country’s future leader are very important. As per Shirinyan, the people also need capital investments, but solely after the implementation of legislative regulations that prohibit monopoly.

“[Armenia] Needs to choose a form [of governance] that will secure a balance of political forces,” the analyst stressed, and he brought the example of the successful model of political governance in the US. 

He added that Armenia’s political elite needs to normalize the country. “It is not a secret that the fate of the world lies in the hands of four or five countries, [and] therefore we need to be appealing for those countries,” Levon Shirinyan concluded.
