YEREVAN.- Armenia is extremely concerned over situation in Syria and the fate of our compatriots living there, President Serzh Sargsyan said in Beirut.
The Syrian people welcomed thousands of Armenians to their country in a difficult period of time, he said at a joint press conference with Michel Suleiman.
“Armenia has always appeared as a country opposing bloodshed. We are against use of force, not only in Syria. It is impossible to reach a long-term solution without suspending the clashes and without comprehensive political dialogue which is in the interests of all Syrians.
Armenia welcomes the mission of UN envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi to stabilize the political situation in Syria and establish peace. We are confident that the implementation of these initiatives in Syria will lead to restoration of peace and, then, it will be possible to carry out democratic reforms reflecting unified will and dreams of all the Syrian people in the near future,” Sargsyan said.
