YEREVAN. – The 10-year-old Akhtamar brandy of the Ararat brand of Armenia’s capital city Yerevan Brandy Factory received gold medal while its 20-year-old Nairi brandy won the top award—the Grand Prix—and received a gold medal at the 16th International Wine and Strong Alcoholic Beverage contest that was held in Moscow.   

More than 117-brand strong alcoholic beverages from twenty countries competed at the event, which was held under the auspices of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, Yerevan Brandy Factory press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

The factory produces the Nairi brandy ever since 1967, and it has won 31 gold and one silver medal so far. The Akhtamar brandy is likewise produced by the factory since 1967, and it has won 8 gold, 4 silver, and one bronze medal to date.
