YEREVAN. – The Yerevan declaration contains a very important chapter on regulating conflicts and any efforts should be made for the Eastern Partnership to serve for well-being, peace and reconciliation, European People's Party (EPP) head Wilfried Martens said at the second Eastern Partnership summit of the EPP on Friday.

“We have very old traditions, and the fact that the summit hosted the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso speaks about our serious engagement in the region,” Martens said. “The Yerevan declaration is based on the fact that as the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said, the Eastern Partnership countries are not simply neighbors but they are European partners of the EU and also we emphasize to respect basic values, including right and freedom.”
