YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan participated on Friday in the second Eastern Partnership summit of the European People's Party (EPP) and opened the summit.

EPP head Wilfried Martens, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, and Moldovan PM Vladimir Filat participate in the summit, presidential press service informs.

“This is really a historical event both for Armenia, our partner counties and the EU and EPP. I express my gratitude to Martens, who has his great contribution in the establishment of the EPP and its reinforcement. I express my gratitude to Barroso, Saakashvili and Filat as well for their participation. The EPP has a great role in developing the Eastern Partnership and bringing it closer to the European borders,” Sargsyan said.
