YEREVAN. – The talks on the Armenia-EU Association Agreement and on the establishment of the Armenia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, which is a part of that agreement, are in progress, stated José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission, on Saturday.
“Association means sharing values, and it leads Armenia to modernization, bringing the laws, standards and norms closer to the European Union laws, [and] deepening our cooperation in the global arena. This process will contribute to the implementation of reforms in Armenia. [And] The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone Agreement will lead Armenia to the European single market. Armenia’s economy meets the Zone’s criteria,” Barros noted.
The European Commission President added that the track-record of other countries shows that the establishment of a comprehensive free trade zone opens new doors for trade, foreign investments, and job creation.
