YEREVAN. – The European Union expects for the presidential elections to be held on a high level in Armenia, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso stated Saturday during his joint news conference with Armenia’s President, Serzh Sargsyan. 

Congratulating Sargsyan in connection with the successful parliamentary elections that were in the country in May, Barroso expressed a hope that the shortfalls, which the OSCE/ODIHR had recorded in the parliamentary elections, will be corrected during the presidential elections, which are slated for February 2013.

In this context, European Commission President underscored the conducting of Armenia’s presidential elections on a high level and consistent with the European norms and standards.
