The delegation, which is led by Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan, kicked off its visit to Brussels on Wednesday.
During the meeting with European Parliament (EP) Vice-President Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca, Tsarukyan noted that PAP is in Brussels today to deepen ties with European political parties, says press release sent by PAP. The PAP leader expressed a view that it is impossible to fight against corruption in the country if this campaign is led primarily by corrupt people. The interlocutors also reflected on Armenia’s forthcoming presidential elections. The EP Vice-President noted that Gagik Tsarukyan could be a fine candidate in these elections because he stands out by his human and optimistic attributes. At the end of the meeting, Tsarukyan invited Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca to Armenia.
On the same day, the PAP MPs also met with Kristian Vigenin, the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Co-Chair. Gagik Tsarukyan stressed that PAP has always favored the holding of elections that solely meet free, fair, transparent and democratic standards. Vigenin informed that the bodies, which will conduct their observation mission in Armenia in the upcoming presidential election, will closely follow all domestic political developments.
The PAP Chairman’s next meeting was with Jan Zahradil, Chairman the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists, and Martin Callanan, Chairman of the Alliance’s political group at the European Parliament. They likewise discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation between the political parties.
Gagik Tsarukyan’s visit to the Belgian capital city will continue Thursday, too.
