YEREVAN. – There are rumors within the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) that PM Tigran Sargsyan will be reappointed to this position in the government that will be formed following the 2013 presidential elections, Zhamanak daily reports.

“According to Zhamanak’s information, his meetings during his visit to US have become the basis for such view.

During the visit he also met with Millennium Challenge Corporation [Program] CEO Daniel Yohannes. They discussed the opportunities for future refinancing of that program in Armenia. In addition, Sargsyan met with US Vice President Joe Biden, which is a rare occurrence in the case of the PMs of Armenia.

Considering these meetings, the overwhelming majority of the RPA members are convinced that he [that is, Sargsyan] will be reappointed to his post, and these meetings also attest that this is the wish of the West, as well,” Zhamanak writes.
