YEREVAN. – Armenia’s First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on Friday received the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) Election Observation Mission members, who will monitor the country’s presidential elections to be held on February 18.     

The interlocutors discussed matters with respect to Armenian military servicemen’s participation in the voting, preparing voters’ lists at military units, guaranteeing the servicemen’s full right to vote, and the Armenian Armed Forces’ engagement in protecting a state of emergency, should it be announced during elections.      

Also, the parties reflected on ensuring the physical safety of the observers, if Azerbaijan violates the ceasefire while they are conducting election monitoring at Armenia’s bordering regions.   

In addition, they examined the possibilities for enabling the observation teams to visit Armenia’s military units and meeting with the servicemen.
