YEREVAN. – Those that work within the system of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) need to forget about the practice of bribing voters, RPA MP Hovhannes Sahakyan stated during a press conference on Monday.
Notwithstanding this, bribe is a violation that is difficult to prove. In Sahakyan’s words, such incidents were recorded in several regions but they had the opposite result, as they reflected negatively on the standing of those candidates that attempted to distribute bribes.
The RPA MP assured that the forthcoming presidential elections will be conducted on a qualitatively new level.
“Those that try to unlawfully cast a shadow over the elections will answer before the law. And if some do not wish to reconcile with the new standards after the elections, they will have to either profoundly work on themselves, or leave our [party] ranks,” Hovhannes Sahakyan stated.
To note, the presidential elections in Armenia will be conducted on February 18, and the Central Electoral Commission has formally registered eight candidates that will run for the top post.
