YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia will convene a special session Wednesday at 5pm, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the CEC official website.
The CEC will examine the petition submitted by presidential hopeful Andreas Ghukasyan—who is on a hunger strike ever since January 21—, and the matter of inviting international observers to the presidential election to be held on February 18.
To note, Ghukasyan petitioned to the CEC on Monday, with a formal request to, “ban the use of the petitioner’s image and the dissemination of false information in the election campaign.”
The thing is that Andreas Ghukasyan was shown in the campaign video of the ruling Republican Party candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan.
