YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party will soon release a statement to help its constituents make a decision with respect to the forthcoming presidential election. ARF Bureau member, MP Vahan Hovhannisyan stated this during a press conference on Friday.

“I am confident that not much time will pass when our seven-point proposals will be accepted as a huge political baggage by those that will come to power,” Hovhannisyan said, and added that there definitely will be new political rearrangements, perhaps a new coalition, or a political bloc following the vote.

To the query as to whether several presidential candidates could join forces, the Dashnaktsutyun politician responded: “When saying this each candidate means they will unite around him, everything already breaks into pieces.”

As for presidential contender Andreas Ghukasyan, who is on a hunger strike ever since January 21, Hovhannisyan said, in his view, Ghukasyan has adopted a correct political stance.

“With his [presidential] battle, he is attempting to show to the people the unfairness of this battle. He is doing [that] by entering the battle and we are doing it without entering [the battle]. But his health is a concern,” Vahan Hovhannisyan said.
