Russia’s position on the opening of Stepanakert airport is in compliance with the position of the OSCE Minsk Group, representative of Russian foreign ministry said.

Asked about Russia’s position, Alexander Lukashevich recalled that the issue had been repeatedly voiced by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

He reminded of the statement as of July 13, 2013 where the co-chairs reiterated position on planned opening of the airport in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The statement said “the Co-Chairs received renewed assurances from the sides that they will reject any threat or use of force against civil aircraft, pursue the matter through diplomatic steps, and refrain from politicizing the issue.”
