YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc exists and nothing will happen to that bloc. ANC Coordinator, National Assembly ANC Faction leader Levon Zurabyan stated this during a press conference on Friday, commenting on the likelihood of the establishment of the ANC party.

“If they wish to keep the bloc, the bloc is kept; the creation of the party does not run counter to the activities of the bloc,” he said.

Zurabyan stressed that this is a process that is built on the freedom of expression by the individuals and political forces within the Congress, that they are uniting for a close and strong cooperation, which does not at all hinder the activities of the Congress.

“If the ANC’s participating parties wish to keep this bloc, nothing will impede them from doing that,” Zurabyan said, and added that the ANC party will comprise those parties that decide to join it.

“Our objective is to create this party. Second, to maintain the pact relations with the parties that are a part of the movement; these do not conflict,” he said.

The ANC coordinator noted that he wishes—and he will do everything so—that ANC bloc leader, First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan leads the namesake political party.
