YEREVAN. – Armenia’s presidential contender, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic former FM Arman Melikyan will not withdraw from the presidential race. Melikyan himself informed this during a press conference on Friday. 

To the query as to the steps he will take if he is elected president, he responded by saying that, first and foremost, he will ensure the rights of the voters and create conditions for a new worldview in Armenia.    

Melikyan also stated that the first think he would do will be to visit the Matenadaran—capital city Yerevan’s ancient manuscript museum—, which symbolizes the culture and traditions of the Armenian nation, and noted that it is the intellect that leads a nation toward development.     

Reflecting on fellow candidate, National Accord party Chairman Aram Harutyunyan’s recent statement, whereby he called upon the other contenders to withdraw their formal nominations, Melikyan said he respects the fellow presidential hopeful’s right to make an appeal, but there is no need to drop out of the presidential race.   

Arman Melikyan also informed that his key challenger is the current governing system.
