YEREVAN. – Armenia’s ruling Republican Party candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan on Friday convened a consultation meeting, with heads of the country’s law enforcement agencies, to discuss matters with respect to ensuring the personal safety of all presidential contenders and their full and equal participation in the forthcoming election.
Also, the National Security Service chief presented information on the ongoing investigation within the framework of the criminal case that is opened in connection with the assassination attempt against presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, who is recovering at hospital from a gunshot wound. He noted that some results are already achieved, in terms of solving this crime, and that these results enable to implement clear measures toward clarifying all relevant circumstances of the case.
Armenia’s president expressed satisfaction with the activities that the law enforcement agencies have conducted so far along the lines of this criminal case.
