YEREVAN. – Armenia remains a country with a masculine culture, the country’s first Human Rights Defender, public activist Larisa Alaverdyan stated during a press conference on Friday. 

She noted that men are more at risk in terms of life, and since Armenia has always been in a state of danger, men have become a priority.  

“But this tradition is moving to other domains,” Alaverdyan noted, and expressed a wish that women are allowed to have their place under the masculine culture. 

“It is a great honor for me to congratulate all the women who live in [Armenia’s] border villages; their daily lives are heroism.  

“I want us to remember that today is a day of battle. The makings of an Armenian woman will change the face of our country,” Armenia’s first ombudswoman said, and added that women can bring the country to a legal state and build a good country.
