YEREVAN. – Within the framework of the events being organized, in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day—which is celebrated every year on March 8—and upon the instruction by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the passersby witnessed, near downtown Yerevan’s Northern Avenue-Abovyan Street intersection, the most unexpected surprise of the day: a flash mob.      

In a matter of several minutes, dozens of young boys, who were wearing identical clothes, performed an Armenian dance number, but with modern themes. After the performance, the boys congratulated the women’s day and marked out an “8” with red tiles.        

The witnesses admitted that they were startled but, at the same time, awestruck by this surprise. 

Extending their best wishes to the passersby, the flash mob participants next headed to downtown Yerevan’s Mashtots Avenue. They performed a small dance number there, too, as numerous women and girls followed their performance.  

Flash mobs were likewise held in Yerevan’s several other administrative regions all through Friday.
