YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia is continuing its deliberations on the petitions which ex-presidential candidates, specifically—opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM—Raffi Hovannisian and—“Radio Hay” Company Manager, political scientist—Andreas Ghukasyan had submitted to CC, Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs from the Court.
At the same time, however, numerous people have gathered across the CC building, and they are staging a protest and holding banners that read: “30 silvers, or the homeland?”
The police officers did not allow the picketers to approach the building and asked them to protest from a further distance, so as not to obstruct the court activities.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, on March 4, Hovannisian and Ghukasyan formally petitioned to the Constitutional Court and contested the Central Electoral Commission’s February 25 decision, “On the Election of the President of the Republic of Armenia.”
The Court must make a ruling within ten days following the submission of a petition and, in this case, the deadline for rendering a decision is Thursday.
